The Thatch is a fairly unique Ship - It is unable to use an engine. To compensate for this weakness, the Thatch also has the most Augmenter slots and, until recently, the largest Hull in the game for a player piloted ship. It's large hulled crown has been usurped by the Singularity Sphere.
The Thatch is most commonly used as a storage ship with enormous hull space. However, many players also use the Thatch as a means of mass transportation, capable of packing up an entire set of base gear and moving it to a new location in one trip - with the help of team mates to Tractor of course!
