The Kalthi is a ruined race from the team Kalthi League. They created weapons of mass destruction, capable of shattering entire worlds. When they planned to bring the fight to the UrQa with these new weapons of war the UrQa detected the vast energies they forced into their weaponry through singularities and sent an invasion fleet to destroy the Kalthi home system, Hyperion.

Hyperion

During the Hyperion conflict an UrQa Dreadnought warped into the system, destroying the Kalthi fleet and turning nearby Kalthi stations to plasma. The Dreadnought headed towards the main Kalthi colony world, with billions of lives on the line the Kalthi used their last line of defense: the Annihilator Missiles. As they began launching, the UrQa Dreadnought changed course straight into the star of Hyperion. The missiles destroyed the UrQa Dreadnought but the resulting explosion of the UrQa energy drive and the sheer power of the missiles began a chain reaction in their sun. Their worlds were burned in the nova of their own sun, leaving only their main military station left alive.

Their race has no purpose left but to continue their war against the UrQa. They share a similar fate as the Shofixti from Star Control, who at the end of their fight against the UrQuan in their home system detonated a Precursor bomb to force their star to cause a miniature nova, ensuring that while their worlds burned so would the UrQuan fleet.

When the Kalthi Jharl Dominaar Jalar meets the player, the player retrieves factory blueprints as well as special materials to help them rebuild their station. Salvaging a still functioning UrQa AI core the Kalthi are able to manufacture missile factories again and prepare to fight the UrQa once more.

Iq' Bana Expedition

Dominaar explains to the player of an expeditionary force of Kalthi who left the station to strike at Iq' Bana. He tried to stop them from leaving but was branded a coward and was unable to stop them. With his power as Jharl he banished them from Hyperion, never to see them again. Investigating Iq' Bana for signs of the expedition the player finds the destroyed station Qokuji Qa'ik. Inside the player finds Ibn' Jaguur and the remains of the Kalthi fleet who have been stranded inside the destroyed UrQa station for 24 years and no means of communication. When the Kalthi arrived in Iq' Bana with the element of surprise, they were able to destroy both the outpost Ibn' Jaguur and the others are in as well as the main supply station. Jaguur's group had crashed near the outpost during the battle and have been there ever since. With the help of the player the Kalthi repair the outpost's Aku'Qa generator and discover the outpost was a training facility for UrQa commanders, with a fleet of Qokuji'qii fighters stored in the outpost. The fighters are extremely advanced and have their own AI built-in to them, the only issue being they are linked to Qokujiii Qa'ik. With the Qokujiii Qa'ik destroyed the Kalthi engineers are able to sever the connection of the fighters and trick them into believing the player's ship is the UrQa capital ship.

In the Weaponry 20 mission the player is trained by Ibn'Brambo, who is one of the Kalthi expedition members stuck on the Qokuji Qa'ik outpost.

Sivar Hvar'kann

Sivar Hvar'kann is a Kalthi uber who roams Perilous Space in his special Kalthi Blade ship. He tirelessly searches for UrQa to eradicate. He wiped out a top secret infiltration mission by Earthforce and destroyed the only captured UrQa ship Earthforce had, and so the Strontium Dogs have been given a contract to hunt him down.

Kalthi Depths

Although the explosion of Hyperion's star razed the Kalthi home system, it did not completely raze their warfleet, and a particular faction known as the Kalthi Armada managed to escape the devastation. The story of the Kalthi Armada is more mystery than history, but these survivors of the Ur'Qa persist to this day, in the deep and dangerous layer of space known as the Kalthi Depths. Constantly pursued and harassed by the Ur'Qa forces garrisoned at Akuq'Ba, forces which field ships and weapons that outmatch anything they deployed in Mira or Iq' Bana, the Kalthi have survived though extreme grit, extensive technological progress, and desperate paranoia of all aliens. It was difficult for the Armada to open themselves up to trusting the Paxian-Human alliance, and although they are willing to share some information and technology, the Kalthi are largely content to remain isolated in the Depths, and will pull no punches against any Terran who attacks their ships.

The Kalthi Armada have no known home system. The Stronghold they opened to human visitors has since been taken over by the Paxians, and no other charted systems are under the direct control of the Armada. It is suspected that the Kalthi Armada may have permanent habitations in a system called Helios, linked to Akuq'Ba by wormhole, but the wormhole to Helios is currently impassable, and no human has seen what lies beyond.

During their long isolation, the Kalthi of the Depths also came into contact with the mysterious Celestials and their impressive automated technology. Filled with awe by their new acquaintances, two factions of Kalthi broke away from the Armada to act as the Celestials' vanguard, respectively forming the Lunarian and Selenite Moonfighters. Rebels from the Lunarians and Selenites alike have since joined forces to form a fourth Kalthi faction, the Empyreal Concord, who have stolen even greater Celestial secrets and hidden themselves away in the Empyreal Layer. Yet another group of Celestial-associated Kalthi, the Celestial Hand, have set up a blockade against the Empyreals in Celestial Encampment. The Celestial Hand have accepted Paxian and Terran aid to suppress the Empyreal threat, rewarding those who aid them by sharing the technology the Empyreals stole.
