Heavy Fighters are usually used by players with Combat Focus, but are sometimes used by other classes such as the Gunner as a stealthy replacement for their usual ships. A lot of AI use heavy fighters as their ships too.
Most heavy fighters have a high number of weapon slots, and boast moderate stat bonuses such as electric tempering and shielding, and on average 3 augmenter slots.
